All 6 Hood Warfare 2 Game Modes
Hood Warfare 2 ships with six game modes — three gang-vs-gang classics and three objective modes with street slang names. Here’s what each one actually is and how to win it.
The modes

Turf War — control the territory
The rules: Gangs fight for control of turf around the map. Your gang earns points over time for the territory it holds, and the win goes to whoever pushed the other team off their zones.
How to win: Zone control is a numbers game. Don’t rotate solo — hold two zones with your crew and trade kills into the third. On Downtown, interiors let you flank capped zones without crossing open streets.
Loadout tip: mid-range rifles. You’re defending positions, not chasing kills.
GangBang — classic team shootout
The rules: Two gangs go head-to-head, and the gang with the most kills when time expires wins. It’s team deathmatch, straight up.
How to win: Stay within one rotation of your teammates. Free kills go to whoever shows up second to a fight — play off your team’s gunfire instead of hunting solo.
Loadout tip: SMG with a Snitch streak — intel + close-range power snowballs fast.
Chaos — every man for himself
The rules: Free-for-all. There is no loyalty to a gang in this mode — everyone is your enemy, and the highest kill count comes out on top.
How to win: Third-party everything. In FFA, the winner is usually the player who arrives after two others have already fought. Listen for gunfire, clean up, relocate. Never take the same route twice.
Loadout tip: fastest-handling SMG you have. FFA fights start before you see the enemy.
Hit A Lick — steal the bag
The rules: Take the bag from the enemy’s hood and bring it back to yours — capture-the-flag with street rules. The catch: while your crew goes after their bag, someone has to keep an eye on your own.
How to win: Assign roles before the match: 2–3 runners, 1–2 guards. A team that all rushes the enemy bag loses to one sneaky solo capper. Use the bag carrier’s slower movement to plan cover routes in advance.
Loadout tip: perks that boost movement speed while carrying matter more than gun stats here.
Destroy The Block — plant or defuse
The rules: Search & destroy. One gang has the bomb, the other has to stop them. Plant or defuse to win — with only one life per round.
How to win: This is the tactical mode. Play slow, hold angles, and don’t peek the same window twice. On attack, execute together — one player planting alone against a full team dies every time. On defense, spread early and collapse on the plant sound.
Loadout tip: this is where utility shines — Claymore locks a plant site; smokes buy the defuse.
Beginner warning: one life per round makes this the least forgiving mode. If you’re new, it’s still worth playing — nothing teaches the maps faster.
Chain Snatch — kill, then loot
The rules: Getting the kill is only half the job. Enemies drop chains when they die — snatch them to earn points, and collect your teammates’ chains before the other gang does.
How to win: Kills without looting are wasted effort. Every fight ends with a decision: grab the chain or push the next fight. Teams that assign a “collector” playstyle — someone who follows the fights — outscore teams with better aim. Denying enemy chains (looting your teammates fast) is worth as much as killing.
Loadout tip: sustain over damage. Chain fights happen around bodies, so surviving the follow-up matters.
Which mode is most popular?
GangBang and Turf War fill fastest in matchmaking — they’re the modes the game went viral on. Destroy The Block has a dedicated tactical crowd, and Hit A Lick / Chain Snatch give the game its identity beyond a CoD clone. Queue times are shortest during US evening hours — see live player count for the best time to play.
Game modes FAQ
How many game modes does Hood Warfare 2 have?
Six at launch: Turf War, GangBang, Chaos, Hit A Lick, Destroy The Block, and Chain Snatch. Trapstar Games has been shipping updates — check our updates page for anything added since.
Can you play all modes with bots?
Yes. Custom matches let you choose your map, mode, and match settings, and add bots to fill the teams — all six modes work vs bots.
What does “Hit A Lick” mean?
In slang, “hitting a lick” means a fast score or robbery — which is exactly the mode: raid the enemy’s hood, grab the bag, get home safe. The mode names all come from Chicago street slang, fitting the game’s fictional gang-war setting.
Is there a ranked mode?
No ranked playlist at launch — progression is reputation-based (player level, weapon challenges, skins). There’s no visible MMR grind yet.
